Overview

The 2304 Option employs the Variable Aperture in the Far Field Method, a measurement technique particularly well-suited for the production environment, to obtain high-speed characterization of single-mode fiber mode field diameter and effective area. Utilizing the 2300A/230AG's broadband light source and monochromator, the 2304 acquires fiber output power as a function of solid angle for highly repeatable test results with simple fiber loading and automated alignment.

Variable Aperture in the Far Field (VAFF) Method

  • Utilizes the 2300 light source and lauch optics
  • Allows MFD to be measured at any wavelength between 1100 and 1625 nm, with optional capability down to 850 nm.
