2600 Preform Analyzer
Fully automated characterization of optical fiber
preforms
The unique vertical design of the 2600 Preform Analyzer gives fiber manufacturers the ability to fully automate preform positioning,
facilitating rapid and comprehensive characterization of preform
structure. From the acquired index profile data, the 2600 calculates
preform geometry metrics such as core diameter, preform outside diameter,
and concentricity. This data also yields equivalent step-index profile
parameters, which allow prediction of drawn fiber properties and provide
essential preform process feedback. The 2600 is particularly well-suited
for manufacturing processes that produce large diameter preforms.
Features and Benefits
Vertical Preform Mounting for Simple, Automated Operation
- Fully automated rotation and longitudinal translation
- No seals or custom cells required for measurement of different
preform diameters
- User-definable measurement sequences allow hands-free measurement of
as many cross-sections of the preform as desired
Fast, Simple Preform Loading
- Preform holding mechanism allows one-person loading and unloading
- Holds preforms up to 100 mm in diameter
- Allows measurement of preforms twice as long as the longitudinal
measurement range
Complete Geometric Analysis
- Refractive index, diameter, radius, noncircularity, layer
concentricity for each cross section measured, at each rotational angle
and each longitudinal position
- Enables accurate prediction of Mode Field Diameter and Cutoff
Wavelength for fibers drawn from the preform
Traceable Calibration
- Every measurement referenced to the built-in silica calibration rod
traceable to UK's National Physical Laboratory
